Becky Serlin

Jenny,

40 years?!?   Nah!!
Here’s to many, many, many more…
HAPPY 40th!!!!!

So Much Love, Becky

So Far

2 girls at the 3 County Fair
won snakes we didn’t want
and the fun began

Fligor the Vineyard Beast, a shadow, scared us silly at night,
while daylight brought wild rides horseback on Cookie Crisp, reciting the Sh’ma,
playing taxman on our Apple 2 Plus,
catching leaves on Massasoit,
It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World,  Airplane, The Jerk:
“Step right up and win some crap!”

Time capsules with deep fears
of nuclear war and
NO BOOBS!

Boyfriends.  Bodies.
You joined one thing and I joined another
and we thought our worlds were now worlds apart.

21 years old—ready again.
Phone calls.  Weddings.  Tragedy.  Divorce.  Illness,
a message on your voicemail one snowy day in March,
you arrived at my doorstep, brought the world to me,
walked for me when I could not.

Babies and home again, now the parents of hometown fun,
40 now.

Energy slows to heat,
practicing new poses,
breathing out balance.
